COVID & Flu Vaccine Scheduling

We are now scheduling flu and COVID shots for the ’25 – ’26 shot season.  At this time, all immunization appointments are now being scheduled by calling our office.

IMPORTANT COVID VACCINE UPDATE:
As you may have heard, the recommendations for the COVID vaccine from the CDC and approval from the FDA have recently changed and have become more limiting.  These changes have led to some confusion in the community and uncertainty in regards to whether insurance plans will cover the vaccine.

We are strong believers in the safety and effectiveness of vaccines and therefore will be following the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) that all young children ages 6 – 23 months get vaccinated against COVID 19, along with older children in certain risk groups, based on the evidence on who can benefit the most from the vaccine.  In addition, as the AAP has also stated, we believe that any parent who wants the vaccine for their child should have access to the vaccine.

Due to the new uncertainties around the COVID vaccine, we will be requiring everyone to sign a financial waiver accepting responsibility should their insurance plan not cover the vaccine, but we very much hope insurers do the right thing and cover the vaccine as they have in years past.

Please note the below:

  • We are only able to administer immunizations to established patients (and parents/guardians) of Golden Gate Pediatrics.
  • Any patient under the age of 18 years old is required to have a signed waiver by a legal guardian for them to be able to receive the vaccine.  If the minor is going to come to the appointment without a legal guardian, make sure to provide them with the appropriate signed waiver form.  (Please note the waiver form cannot be completed or submit more than 24 hours before the appointment).
  • Parents and caretakers of established patients of Golden Gate Pediatrics may also schedule a Flu and or/COVID Shot appointment.  (Please click here for more info on Parents and Guardians receiving a vaccine from our office.)
  • Flu Booster Shots – Children aged 6 months through 8 years who have not previously received ≥2 total doses of the flu vaccine before July 1, 2025 need 2 doses of the flu vaccine, given ≥4 weeks apart.
  • COVID Booster Shots – patients who are 6 mos – 4 yrs old who have never received a COVID vaccine before should get two doses with the 2nd dose being 4 – 8 weeks after the first dose.

(Below waiver can only be filled out within 24 hours of scheduled appointment)
